Hello everyone and thanks for visiting!

Thanks you for visiting!  I hope you will check back frequently for updates over the course of the next several months as I train to compete in and complete two marathons in 13 days in support of our good friend Dominic D’eramo’s battle against cancer.  Up until a few months ago, I was very much a regular guy with regular guy day to day issues.  Yes, I am an avid runner and sometimes marathoner which I realize may make me a bit more shall we say, “eccentric”  than most – but on the whole just your standard, run of the mill guy.  My wife Dawn and I live in Austin, TX with our spoiled dog Kayla who will make for good copy in the future I’m sure as she is always up to something – but we live our lives with little fanfare.

A few months ago our dear friend Dom shortly after the birth of his second child Nico was diagnosed with a very serious form gastrointestinal cancer.  Dom, his wife Val, his 3-year old daughter Sierra and 4-month old son Nico were in for the fight of their lives – quite literally.  To aid our friend and his wonderful family – I committed to running not only the Boston Marathon on April 19, 2010 but also Dom’s home-town race the Pittsburgh Marathon 13 days later on May 2, 2010.

I will be posting about our friend’s progress, early training runs, nutrition, cross-training, the everyday trials and tribulations of the distance runner, eating (breakfast especially!) and a spoiled rotten schipperkee named Kayla – not necessarily in that order.  I hope that you enjoy the blog – and feel free to reach out to me directly at any time as I am always looking to make new friends and talk about the things that I am passionate about!

I will be making frequent updates to the blog as training for Boston intensifies and treatment and recovery for Dom continues.  Dom’s surgery went very well last week and although he has a long fight ahead – he is well on his way! Go Dom!

Way to go Dom!
